We’ve done it – KultraLab are officially B Corp Certified!

Yes, it’s a big deal. No, it’s not easy. And, yes we’re going to shout about it – well just a little bit anyway.

Did you notice that shiny new badge on our homepage, the one that says Certified B Corporation? We hope so, because it’s something we’re really proud of. Especially as we’re such a young company.

Working towards a better future – for everyone!

From the very beginning, we’ve worked hard to make sure KultraLab would be a force for good in the world, for everyone. Our app does this by helping people achieve their full potential through personalised, targeted training that allows them to be skilled and ready for the future world of work.

So far, so good.

But, being B Corp Certified is not just about the people we help with our app, it’s much more than that. It’s about the whole of the company, from what benefits employees are offered to where we source our energy – everything is taken into account.

To be considered for certification, we had to complete the B Impact Assessment, a comprehensive document that looks at five key areas – community, customers, environment, governance and workers, giving each a score.

What is B Corp Certification?

B Lab, the people behind B Corp Certification, have been in action since 2006. They’re a non-profit, global organization with a mission to certify companies that ‘meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.’ In short, B Lab want to shift the focus away from profit for one person, to profit for all – people, planet and communities. Admirable, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Why does B Corp certification matter?

Because we care. We care about people. We care about the planet. It’s as simple as that.

For us, KultraLab is about more than making a profit. It’s about creating something that positively impacts the environment and the communities who live there. And B Corp Certification is a perfect way for us to show that we’re not just talking the talk, we’re actually walking the walk.

Our founder, Steve Baggi, has this to say:

‘What we are doing is about empowering people and improving people’s lives – optimising the opportunity and growth potential in every person.

We wanted to create an organisation that has that ethos in everything it does, because it is the right thing to do for everyone. This is not just in our core product, but in everything we do, in every aspect of our business. B Corp is a perfect partnership and way for us to do that.’

But, the journey is not over once certification has been awarded. It’s an ongoing process, with renewal every three years, and our commitment to remain B Corp Certified is high on our agenda. We’ve still got lots of work to do, but we’re confident we’re on the right path.

We join an esteemed group of companies, over 4000, in 70 countries, across 150 industries, including some big players like Ben & Jerry’s, Nespresso and The Body Shop. That’s quite a lot of people who share our vision for the future of business being one that puts people and purpose before profit. That makes us really happy!
